We are delighted to present a relatively early R. John Wright creation, “Rachel, Sunday Best.” This shy little girl from a bygone era features a fully-jointed felt body, fine facial painting and molding, green eyes, deeply blushed cheeks and a delicately painted mouth. Her face is framed by a soft brunette mohair wig pulled back with a green satin ribbon. She wears a high waisted smock style dress of green velvet edged in frothy lace (dress does present age related fading.) Dear Rachel clutches a small doll in her arms, also beautifully made, with a finely painted face, blonde mohair wig, and prairie style dress and bonnet in a floral print. Underneath, Rachel wears a fine cotton slip and pantaloons. Brown cotton stockings and black shoes complete her classic look. Accessories include a delicate faux pearl necklace. Number 43 from a limited edition of 250, she is in nice condition and retains her original box (box does present wear), sewn on R. John Wright logo tag and sewn on paper tag (now detached.)
