Extraordinary Simon & Halbig 1159-7 Gibson Girl With Wardrobe and Trunk
We could see spending a rainy day (or much longer) playing with this dreamy Gibson Girl and her treasure trove of clothing, hats, shoes and accessories that harken to a time of glamour and romantic fashions. Circa 1910, and a product of Simon & Halbig, this statuesque beauty features perfect bisque with lovely coloring, cornflower blue glass sleep eyes with full violet tinted mohair lashes and intact eyelid wax, also tinted a subtle shade of violet. Delicately painted coral lips with a slight shine part to reveal a row of pearly teeth. Her original, chestnut brown Gibson Girl styled human hair wig retains a gorgeous shine. She features pierced ears with teal green glass earrings (minor wear to left earring hole.)
Her jointed composition body is in wonderful condition and features a nipped waist, generous bosom, slender arms and legs, and graceful, blushed and dimpled hands. Her diaphanous dress is comprised of fine cream windowpane cotton and features a gathered bust, full, elbow length sleeves and delicate floral embroidery embellishments (dress does present minor, age related discoloration and a separated seam below back closure.) A cluster of wax orange blossoms is fastened at her waist. Underneath, she wears antique lace trimmed cotton underthings including a slip, pantaloons, a boned, laced corset, camisole and fine ecru cotton stockings. Head incised: 1159, Germany, Simon & Halbig, S&H, 7 / Body stamped: Heinrich Handwerck Germany 2
