Charming 28” German child, attributed to J.D. Kestner. A lovely and perfect bisque head, the “moist bisque” imparts a luminous, dewy complexion to this little girl. She has expressive, brown sleep eyes and an open mouth with teeth. One area of bisque discoloration to right of forehead. A gorgeous, antique, light brown human hair wig falls in ringlets to her waist and is adorned with an antique goldenrod yellow grosgrain bow.
On a wood and composition fully-jointed body with the original paint finish, stamped Excelsior Germany 6. Body presents some age related wear, composition chipping to neck opening and missing middle finger on right hand.
She wears an antique cream cotton dress with lace embellishments (dress does present some scattered age related discoloration.) Underneath, she wears a fine cotton chemise, slip and pantaloons. Cream leather shoes with a mother of pearl button and antique ochre socks complete her costume.
