Part of a recently arrived collection of small dolls who represent examples of dress from around the world, we offer “Norwegian.” It is interesting that a question mark was placed after the notation on the doll’s tag! The model doll itself appears to be a perfect Armand Marseille shoulderhead example, with blue glass set eyes, single stroke brows and an open mouth with teeth. The body is of sawdust-stuffed cloth, fitted with molded composition arms and legs. There is a tuft of blonde mohair inside the doll’s head, but none visible on the outside emanating from under the headdress. The costume, showing fading, is composed of various cottons, lace, net and metallic trimming. Whether indeed representing Norway through dress, she is a goodwill ambassador due to her sweet personality that is readily evident.
