19” character doll made in Germany by ABG from the copyright designs of the American artist Grace Corry Rockwell, the doll was marketed by the George Borgfeldt firm under the name "Pretty Peggy". Details here include a perfect bisque flanged head (rub at right eyebrow), a closed mouth, blue glass sleep-eyes (head is stuffed so the eyes are stable for mailing), molded hair over which a brunette wig is worn – all on a stuffed cloth body with molded composition arms and straight legs. The doll wears what we believe is her original dress of muslin and lace, complete with a matching bonnet, over a pale blue muslin union suit. Lovely striped stockings and blue oilcloth shoes complete the presentation.
