A charming folklore, character costume such as this one is highly sought-after but not often seen. This ensemble consists of a deep red wool Dress with a yoked bodice and gathered skirt, a pointed Bertha collar and wide cuffs on the long sleeves. Black silk velvet ribbon decorates the bottom of the skirt as well as the collar and neckline, and heavy cotton embroidered lace enhances the cuffs and yoke. Covering the skirt is the classic white batiste apron edged in fine lace. The finishing touch, of course, is the full length, matching cape, decorated with the same black silk ribbon all around the cape as well as the wide collar. The cape is fully lined and closes with hook and eye at the neckline. The overall condition is excellent, suitable for a German child or character doll approximately 18-19” in height.
