A true artisan created this one of a kind oil-painted cloth doll. The face is reminiscent of a primitive American portrait, due to the expressive eyes. The four-part seamed head features russet colored hair with a center part, and well-formed lips. Further details include a firmly stuffed cloth body that is “hinged” at the knees and hips and arms that are tab-joined at the shoulders. Her hands are formed by oil-painted “gloves “ that slip over the lower arms.
Her costume, of various printed cottons and lace does exhibit scattered fading, especially to the arms. Leather children’s shoes and a matching, printed cotton bonnet complete the presentation.
