The artisan who created this doll obviously knew that “eyes are the windows to the soul” and decided that these eyes needed to showcase that sentiment! The eyes here are amazing and three-dimensional due to their being created from shoe buttons placed upon nests of bundled string. The needle-sculpted nose does show wear, but it is the worn mouth that have kept this doll mute for too long now. We would not think it a crime for some caring artist to provide a few stitches of cherry red floss, so this spirit can tell her story.
Another unusual detail here is this doll’s full head of hair created from luxurious mohair plush - note the center part! The stuffed cloth body allows a little movement at the shoulders due to the tab joining there. This lady is dressed for a day at home in a coral cotton dress, white cotton apron and a lace collar. A straw hat, along with canvas and leather shoes (showing wear) complete the presentation.
