We are pleased to offer a charming German Papier-Mâché from the J. D. Kestner firm. Features include a black painted hairstyle with expressive brown eyes and petal pink cheeks. On a classic wood and leather milliner’s style body with particularly graceful limbs and blue shoes with leather slippers (splitting to right slipper), she wears a girl’s length cotton dress in a delightful floral print in tones of brown and ochre with lace embellishments at the cuff of the dropped, bell sleeves.
Underneath, long fine cotton pantalettes with a lace detail at the ankle are worn. This little girl of a bygone era displays beautifully but does present overall, scattered finish loss, surface crazing and flaking to shoulderhead and paint loss to body particularly right, lower leg.
