We are pleased to offer a lovely Papier-mâché from the J. D. Kestner firm, with a sweetly expressive face featuring petal pink cheeks, large blue eyes and rose red lips curved in a sweet smile. Her black-painted hair is styled in a high bun and embellished with a black ribbon headdress that ties at the chin and cascades down her back.
On a leather and wood body with red shoes, she wears a remarkable regional costume featuring a red wool skirt with green hem, woven brown striped apron and a cream cotton blouse with an ecru lace overlay. She remains in good antique condition with minor, scattered surface wear including a rub to chin. Her original costume presents scattered, age related holes and tender areas.
