Sweet Papier-Mâché Girl
Sweet Papier-Mâché Girl
Details of this sweet Papier-mache girl from the J. D. Kestner firm, include a shouderhead with a molded and black-painted hairstyle, and lovely coloring with the more unusual painted brown eyes. On the classic milliner model body of cotton with wooden limbs that include legs with green-painted slippers, she wears her original gown of fine cotton in a pink calico print on a field of white. Underneath, she wears fine cotton pantalettes with a lace detail at cuff.
She remains in poor to fair condition, due to scattered surface wear to hair and face. She also presents a crack that runs from the nape of her neck to the edge of her left shoulder as well as an area of glue residue at the edge of her right shoulder. The front right edge of the shouderplate does show a significant loss, although it is covered by the neckline of her dress
