Cabinet Sized Papier-Mâché
Cabinet Sized Papier-Mâché
Here we have a very sweet “Pauline” style doll in a wonderful cabinet size. Details of this Papier-mâché, a fine product of Andreas Voit and made for the French market, include a lovely pale complexion, nicely molded and painted features, black pupil-less eyes, and an open mouth with four tiny teeth. Her head of finely black painted hair boasts face framing wisps and curls and is topped with a tiered lace bonnet.
On a gusseted kid body in good condition, she wears an antique white cotton dress featuring a full skirt with rows of tucks and an embroidered lace hem, floral embroidery at the bodice, and an organza apron with a grosgrain ribbon border and sash (scattered holes to apron.) Underneath, she wears fine cotton pantalettes with a lace detail at the ankle. Blue and white striped stockings and brown leather boots complete her presentation. She remains in nice condition, save for a minor surface crack that emanates from the right side of her neck and runs across her chest.
Measures: 14 1/2” tall.
