Definitely a cousin to the Mottschmann, but "once or twice removed", is this extra-sweet early German papier-mache taufling. The shoulderhead bears sweetly painted features including painted dark blue eyes and a very nice mouth (normal age related wear to composition.) Baby’s limbs are composition with lower body stationary (composition does present age related wear and surface cracks throughout.) Beautifully costumed as an infant in a long cream cotton gown with a matching crocheted bonnet, flannel petticoat and a lace trimmed cotton petticoat this happy baby also has a working squeaker mounted in his mid-section – a small miracle – like the doll itself!
