Something that you china doll collectors in particular might appreciate, is this magnificent lidded trinket box in the form of a beautifully dressed child just learning to walk. The sweet figure is shown in an early wooden baby walker known as a minder. Baby bears a sweetly eager expression and wears a violet dress with floral details, a white bib and a colbalt blue bourrelet style hat adorned with gilt details and tassels (hat does present scattered rubs throughout.) A toy sheep on a string is cast aside (sheep does have one broken leg and the creamic “string” originally attached to the child’s hands is missing.)
The base of the box is lavished with a marble style finish, scrolled details, seashells and vivid hues of violet and colbalt with gilt detailing. The modeling and coloring of this piece is magnificent and the overall condition is wonderful.
